My jacked up yard

This picture is of a 3x3 foot section of my front yard. What was once nice grass is now a mixture of grass, clover, weeds, dirt, thatch and moss.

I am starting over next fall.

Money Grows on Trees

Just saw today that this Cary company, Horticultural Asset Management, got a few million in series B venture funding. Thought all of you software/horticulture geeks out there would be interested. They were featured in an N&O article just recently. It's in the news section of their website.

Spring is in the air!

As spring comes into full bloom so does that yard work. I have already started mucking out my backyard in earnest. Once I have completed this process, I will be laying down more landscape fabric and pine straw. Hopefully, I can convince my wife that outlining the various areas of the yard (Grassy Gnoll, Mulchy Slope, Pine Strawed lower section) with stone. I think it will complete the look and tie in all areas of the yard.

Because my lot is extremely sloped, my wife and I have decided to add a deck to the back of the house and to take the existing deck and turn it into a covered and screened in porch. This will add a couple of hundred feet of usable space and make the existing space even more usable.

I will be reporting on the process of this project over the next several weeks. I will also keep you updated on the backyard landscaping.

Two Years Later

Today, C and I realized that it was two years to the day since we first saw our house. Here is how it has changed since.
