Pons Flowers

After last week's rain all the floating plants in my pond started putting out these awesome flowers. I have no idea what they are called but they bloomed in about 24 hours and obviously like rain.

Fantastic! I hear the weather is getting really nice there...I wish I could say the same.

Let me see if I have the logic correct. These plants that live in the water reacted positively to rain? Do you think perhaps it was just time for them to bloom?

Not trying to be a dick, although I'm pretty sure that's how it's coming across. Sorry...

Andrew, I know you are jealous of my backyard 'baby killer' and all but you don't have to get snotty. Look at how enthusiastic Brandon is about everything. Do you need a month in some third world hell hole to improve your attitude?

All I'm saying is they flowered the day it rained.

Now you made me feel bad. So, I spent a few minutes trying to atone.

I think the plant you have is a water hyacinth. Looks like you need to watch out for this particular plant taking over your pond and being a place for skeeters...

That is it. I bought four of them and now have 40. The man told me that I would be throwing them away and I do weekly. Anyone want any?

Allen, I think these are hyacinths.
They are illegal in Texas and other warmer clients because they breed excessively and clog the water ways.
